BOONE — At the May 26 AppalCART Board of Trustees meeting, board members voted to adopt the company's proposed budget for FY2020-2021, which totals $4,903,650, a nearly a 1 percent increase from the previous year's budget, or $44,212.
Transportation Director Craig Hughes said that the slight increase is related to "inflationary cost," which included a "10 percent increase in health insurance costs" for the company's employees.
Hughes said that no established routes have been removed for the coming year, adding that the company is "planning to run the Purple Route until 10 p.m. on weekdays instead of until 8 p.m."

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused sharp drops in sales and revenues for many companies, resulting in layoffs and other cost-cutting measures, including reductions to customer experience (CX) budgets.
While the most common recommendation is to demonstrate the value of CX programs well before the budget ax falls, that tactic may be too late and not enough to avoid cutbacks in a sharply declining economy. We asked CX professionals how they would handle a reduced budget.

The Woodstock Town Council voted unanimously on Tuesday night to approve the town's budget for fiscal year 2021 and gave the green light to a proposal made by a firm that intends to repurpose the old Woodstock school as a residential property.
All six council members voted in favor of a resolution for the disposition of property and approved the purchase, sale and development agreement of a parcel of property located at 403 W. Lombardi: With less in budget, Grid paving more important | The Valley Breeze
NORTH PROVIDENCE – Though he hasn't heard back yet from National Grid on his request that the utility company complete full curb-to-curb repaving after doing work on local streets, Mayor Charles Lombardi says he intends to hold firm on it.
Having National Grid do the work the right way will be more important after the town's repaving budget was cut by $200,000, from $800,000 to $600,000, last week to put money aside for other potential costs.
Lombardi said he agreed with that move based on the uncertainties of the town's budget situation and that the town may be facing cuts from the state in addition to what's to be cut from schools.

How To Create A Budget For Anti-Racist Activism
It's time to get more strategic about our personal budgets. Unemployment is high and we're in a recession as a result of COVID-19 . While every dollar is extremely precious right now, we're also asking ourselves: How can we make sure to contribute as much as possible to end police brutality?
Create a budget, or reassess your budget if it's been a while since you created it. Chances are, your spending and needs have changed over the past few months. The exact makeup of a budget can vary widely, but one common rule of thumb is the 50/30/20 breakdown, where you try to spend about 50% of your take-home pay on essentials, 30% on things you want, and 20% on savings.
