Defense CEOs address racism; Special budget for countering China; Business’ great power

It's rare for defense CEOs to speak out about social or political issues, but many spent the early part of the week doing just that, sending internal messages to their employees and posting to social media about racism in America.

In many cases, their messages went out days before military leaders issued their own calls for reflection on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Hayes was hardly alone. Read about other defense CEOs' messages to their employees and the public, here .

COVID-19: L&T reworking budget, operations

Of the 515 fresh cases reported, 482 are returnees from other states, mostly (about 471) from neighboring Maharashtra.

The former Congress president had earlier too termed the lockdown in India as 'failed' which has not helped see a decline in cases.

Ajit Pal Singh led India to victory in the 1975 hockey World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. Balbir Singh senior was the team's manager. India have never won a World Cup again

With six Olympic hockey gold medals between them, Dhyan Chand and Balbir Singh Senior have been relegated to the backburner by cricket-mad Indians and sports administrators with myopia

A down economy may be putting more pressure on corporate legal departments to insure that their vendors and service providers are going to be in business for the long-haul. But startups and legacy companies might be operating under different expectations.

Waiting for a big, big shoe to drop: Why Confederation Building needs to show the books | CBC News

Finance Minister Tom Osborne may have had a news conference on Thursday for a long, long-awaited fiscal update, but a telling financial picture had actually been painted the week before.

That's when Standard and Poor's had issued a pointed statement about the terrible shape of Newfoundland and Labrador's finances.

Standard & Poor's may not be a household name, but the rating agency is well known in the halls of power the world over. Since the Victorian era, the company has been judging the fiscal performance of governments and corporations, and its decisions are weighty: its ratings determine what interest rates that, say, a beleaguered province on the East Coast of Canada can get when it needs to borrow money, and thus what it must cough up as it pays back the debt.

Discovery Reviews Production Costs After Saving on Low-Budget Quarantine Shows - WSJ

Discovery Inc. is reassessing some production budgets after the pay-TV network operator managed to slash costs for content shot from home during the coronavirus pandemic.

The New York-based company quickly shifted to producing television shows from its cast members' homes after widespread lockdown orders to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus took effect in March.

Discovery, which spent $3.26 billion on content last year, is saving $300,000 on average for every hour of content shot from home, said Gunnar Wiedenfels, the company's chief financial officer.
