TV money gives NFL leg up if fans can't fill teams' coffers | West Hawaii Today

DALLAS — Timing favored the NFL over other major pro sports leagues in trying to figure out how to keep the coronavirus pandemic from wrecking the 2020 season.

Ask Amy: Frugal friend could be hoarding money - oregonlive.com

Dear Amy: I am a retired professional. My husband is still working. We have no investments and no inheritances, but we get by.

I rarely mention money. I love to go to restaurants, shows and concerts, tip well, and am generous with what I have.

I have a friend who is quite the opposite. She does not dine out or go to shows or concerts, and both she and her husband retired a few years ago with generous pensions and health insurance.

To Stop Deforestation, Give People Money

Solutions to inequality are often portrayed as being at odds with environmental protection. It doesn't have to be an either-or choice, though. A new study argues that a n Indonesian program to help people out of poverty also saved trees. It shows that sometimes you just need to give people money.

The authors looked at geo-referenced administrative, satellite, and field data. The findings suggest that villages participating in the program saw forest loss drop by an average of 30%.

Kids & money: Teens face tough summer job outlook | Business News | tucson.com

The pickings are much slimmer in the summer job market for teens transitioning from at-home schooling to working and making money.

In fact, this summer is shaping up to be the worst for teen employment since the Great Recession more than 10 years ago. That means millions of young workers will be missing out on valuable early job experience and paychecks to bank for things like college or a car.

The gradual reopening of businesses, combined with social distancing and safety requirements means limited job opportunities available for high school and college-age youths, especially in restaurants, retail and recreation.
