HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — After three years of work on the issue, Gov. Tom Wolf's administration said Pennsylvania will become one of a handful of states to expand eligibility for overtime pay beyond federal thresholds, starting Saturday.
The Democratic governor first proposed the regulation three years ago amid a repeated failure to persuade the Republican-controlled Legislature to raise Pennsylvania's minimum wage above the federal baseline.
When it was approved in January by a regulatory board, the new overtime regulation was estimated to expand overtime pay eligibility to 82,000 of the very lowest-paid salaried workers through 2022, delivering another $20 million to nearly $23 million a year in increased earnings after the rule takes full effect.
Quite a lot has been going on:

What Are Minimum Wage Laws? - Business News Daily
When hiring new employees, one of the most important decisions a small business owner has to make is how much to pay them. When you set pay rates, especially for hourly employees, you need to know the laws regarding how much they have to be paid. Federal and state minimum wage laws impose a baseline for how much you have to pay your employees. These laws don't prevent you from paying employees more than the minimum wage, but from paying less than it.
The minimum wage is the lowest rate at which you can pay your employees. It is a violation of the law to pay employees at rates below the minimum wage.
San Diego paying out $3.4 million to 700 firefighters for underpaid overtime - The San Diego
San Diego agreed this week to pay $3.4 million to more than 700 city firefighters to compensate them for underpaid overtime they should have received several years ago.

The payout comes six months after the city reached a similar legal settlement with more than 2,300 other city workers for the same kind of underpaid overtime.
The cases were handled separately because overtime calculations differ for firefighters, who work 24-hour shifts that include sleeping overnight in firehouses.
