The government has confirmed it will introduce a loss carry-back scheme that will allow businesses to claim back taxes paid on last year's profits.

The new scheme, announced in tonight’s budget, means a business that was previously profitable, but is making a loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic, can claw back some of the taxes they paid, helping even things out a little.

ANA Board of Governors Approves $5.17 Million Budget for FY 2020-21

At a September 29 teleconference meeting, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) Board of Governors unanimously passed a $5.17 million budget for Fiscal Year 2020-21 – a nearly 10 percent decrease from the previous year's approved budget. The new fiscal year begins Nov. 1.

"It's no secret that COVID-19 has hit us hard financially," said ANA Executive Director Kim Kiick . "But we're making lemonade from lemons. This budget represents common-sense measures to sustain the Association through unpredictable times."

Study: Consumer Spending and Marketing Budgets Set to Rebound in Q4 and 2021

Despite the pandemic, 58 percent of consumers expect to spend the same amount or more than recent years this holiday season, and nearly half of all marketers plan to add money back into the budget in Q4. Of those marketers that will add money back into the budget, 80 percent say it will be equal to or larger than their budget pre-COVID-19.

For 2021, while most consumers say it is too early to tell what they will spend, more than a third already say they will spend more in 2021 than 2020. For marketers, 70 percent expect their 2021 budgets to be larger than their post-COVID 2020 budgets, and 34 percent expect their budgets to be larger than the 2020 budgets pre-COVID-19.
