A new report from compliance management and analytics provider Intelligize reviews Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) comment letters and replies related to the Financial Accounting Standards Board’s (FASB’s) ASC 842 lease accounting standard, and it confirms that FASB and the SEC have shown considerable patience in enforcing the new rule, which requires the tracking and disclosure of all of a company’s leased assets, both finance and operational.

Monmouth County accounting firm owner charged with Theft

A Middlesex County man who was allegedly cooking the books at a Monmouth County accounting firm now faces up to ten years in prison after being charged with stealing $385,000 in tax payments from a multi-million dollar wholesale distribution company based in South Carolina.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni announced Thursday that William A. Berry, 48, of South Plainfield, was charged with second degree Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition.

National Accounting Board recognizes UAB accounting student Hannah Marcelino's academic

Hannah Marcelino Hannah Marcelino, a University of Alabama at Birmingham Collat School of Business student, was named a Public Company Accounting Oversight Board Scholar and awarded $10,000 to use for tuition and educational expenses.

Easy access to education that could lead to job opportunities is also a major element of the scholarship. Marcelino, an undergraduate accounting student, was selected for the scholarship for her high GPA and her involvement within numerous student accounting organizations.
