Mr. Prince, brother of the education secretary, Betsy DeVos, now heads a private equity firm, Frontier Services Group. Frontier's chairman is a powerful Chinese businessman, Chang Zhenming, a notable connection given Mr. Bannon's strong anti-China rhetoric.

'That would make a huge difference': Alaska small business owners welcome COVID-19 relief changes

JUNEAU, Alaska (KTUU) - Colleen Goldrich has had a tough summer. The owner of Annie Kaill's, an art gallery in downtown Juneau, has seen her business evaporate during the pandemic without the typical influx of cruise ship passengers.

"It's been kind of nerve wracking," Goldrich said but also wonderful that local shoppers have kept coming in.

As of Wednesday, the Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development has received 3,487 applications from small businesses worth over $170 million. Just over $40 million in grants have been approved and around $30 million has been disbursed between 721 small business owners.

Barrio Logan Entrepreneur Fighting to Keep Neighborhood in Business – NBC 7 San Diego

Several Barrio Logan business owners have teamed up to begin a community event called "Walk the Block." They encourage businesses to operate outdoors along the sidewalk and parking lots following the City of San Diego's new Temporary Outdoor Business Permit.

While the owner of Sew Loka, Rodriguez-Biezunski, is not designing fashion for sale, she is donating handwoven masks for those in need.

"I knew there was going to be a need for masks and my skill could obviously help and I wanted to help my community because my community has always had my back," said Rodriguez-Biezunski.

City Of Chicago Taking Applications For Business Grants – CBS Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) —  Business owners impacted by the coronavirus and recent looting can now apply for grant from the city of Chicago for up to $4,000.

The Together Now Fund comes from a collaboration with the city, various organizations and individual donors. The application process opened Friday. The application window closes on August 31 at 11:59 p.m.

Claims for Business Income Loss Due to Construction Dust Denied in Pre-COVID Case

In an opinion that could inform coronavirus business interruption claims now before various courts, a federal appeals court has ruled that a Florida restaurant is unable to collect on its insurance for business interruption losses that it says were caused by dust and debris from nearby road construction that began in 2013.

The appeals court ruling against the plaintiff upheld a ruling by the U.S. District Court for Southern Florida in favor of Sparta Insurance Co., against the plaintiff, Mama Jo’s (doing business as Berries).
