Building entrepreneurial accountants and partners during coronavirus | Accounting Today

For example, the pandemic has made many accounting practitioners more aware of limitations — and the value that can come from changing to better manage the stresses and unknowns of current working conditions. Firms managing well through COVID-19 have found ways to become more efficient, more alert, more communicative, more creative and more strategic.

CPA firms have struggled for a long time with staffing and succession issues. In our new environment, firms must find new ways to adapt to meet those challenges. Starting with their entry level team members, firms must find ways to build accountants who are entrepreneurs — and who will one day become partners.

Clients disappointed with size of tax refunds and expect more from accountants | Accounting Today

Over half of tax clients (53 percent) aren't positive that their accountant fully minimizes their tax payment, and 46 percent were disappointed by the size of their tax refund last year, according to a new survey.

The top reasons cited by the individual and business taxpayers polled for what they value most about the relationship they have with their tax accountant are in-person communications, the ability to send and receive documents online, and guidance and knowledge about taxes. The top three things they said they would change about working with their accountant are more in-person meetings, more timely response, and better technology to streamline interactions.

OU master’s student earns scholarship from public accounting board - 2020 - School of

Madeja is one of only 234 students in the country to be named a PCAOB Scholar for the 2020-2021 academic year. The program benefits outstanding students who are likely to become accountants and auditors. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in April 2020, Madeja immediately enrolled in OU's Master of Accounting program and is preparing to take the exam to become a certified public accountant next spring.
