Modern Animal calls itself a new kind of veterinary clinic for animals and their humans. The California-based startup opened its first clinic in West Hollywood just before the coronavirus pandemic struck, and now finds itself a new kind of clinic in a whole new way.
After making an appointment online using the Modern Animal app, pet owners are instructed to drive to the alley behind 8122 Beverly Blvd., where the clinic is located, and send a chat via the app to let the vet know they are there.

Wisconsin governor announces ‘turn of the dial,’ expands nonessential business
MADISON, Wis. ( WFRV ) – Governor Tony Evers has announced “another turn of the dial” in allowing nonessential businesses to reopen.
Under the Order to Turn the Dial signed by Wisconsin Department of Health Services Secretary-designee Andrea Palm, nonessential businesses can do curbside drop-off of goods and animals.
According to Gov. Evers, the order allows businesses like dog groomers, small engine repair shops, upholstery businesses, and others to safely open. The order also allows outdoor recreational rentals, such as boats, golf carts, kayaks, ATVs, and other similar recreational vehicles. Additionally, automatic or self-service car washes would be able to operate.
Iowa governor loosening business restrictions starting May 1 in 77 counties, Woodbury County not
JOHNSTON, Iowa (KTIV) -- Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds says the state will start taking a "targeted approach" to loosening restrictions across the state. But for now, Woodbury County will not be a part of this approach.
During her news conference Monday, Reynolds said starting May 1 she would be lifting certain restrictions in counties that are seeing stabilization and downward trends with COVID-19.
On Friday restaurants, fitness centers and retail stores in 77 of Iowa's 99 counties can reopen at 50% of their normal operating capacity. Reynolds added that malls may reopen at 50% capacity as well, but play areas and food court dining will remain closed.
Insurance not likely to pay for business income lost by pandemic
After Hurricane Charley in 2004, Dr. David Rowe said he added additional insurance coverage for his dental practice.
Due to an executive order banning all routine dental procedures, Rowe said his practice went from seeing about 50 patients a day to about five or six.
“The point of insurance is to be there when you need it, and I can’t imagine a bigger reason for needing help than right now, not being able to work to no fault of your own,” he said.
