Both Republicans and Democrats have offered proposals for what could be considered for a fourth federal spending package with the GOP looking for infrastructure money and Democrats calling for money for cash-strapped employer-sponsored pension programs.

Small business owners who used small banks say PPP money is hitting their accounts

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida small business owners who chose small banks say they are seeing the prized Paycheck Protection Program money hitting their bank accounts this week.

"The account was funded as of yesterday," said Henry Sal, owner of CSI Software in Apopka. "I feel extremely lucky, this is incredible."

Sal was approved for six figures in federal funding, which will cover the payroll for his 35 employees. He said he tried to apply with a big bank that he'd been with for more than 20 years but had no luck, eventually finding and applying through Cogent Bank in Downtown Orlando through a friend.

Jacksonville council member wants to see more local stimulus money distributed to people

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville is still working out details about how the $1,000 local stimulus package will be distributed to households that qualify.

Overall, the city received over $160 million from the federal government Cares Act on Wednesday. The plan right now is to take 25% of that and give $1,000 to 40,000 Jacksonville households that have lost income because of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

"I think it's a great start, but I think it's not enough," Dennis said Friday. "I think we should double that. I think half of that money should go to our citizens."

Gov. Gavin Newsom said Friday the requirements reflect California’s values, though lawmakers have repeatedly failed to impose special taxes and require warning labels for sugary drinks in the past.
