True or False: Trendy Face Mists Are Worth the Money - The New York Times

Every morning, after cleansing her skin, before applying her serum and while making her coffee, Alyssa Bonanno spritzes her face with a rosewater and aloe mist she discovered on TikTok.

"I let it soak in," said Ms. Bonanno, 27, an owner of a marketing studio in Los Angeles. "It helps my skin look a little more awake."

The mist, which is made by Glossier , has become a favorite part of Ms. Bonanno's beauty routine. "I have no idea if it legitimately does anything," Ms. Bonanno said. "It seems to help my makeup go on smoother, and it just feels good."

3D-printed weather stations could enable more science for less money -- ScienceDaily

Across the United States, weather stations made up of instruments and sensors monitor the conditions that produce our local forecasts, like air temperature, wind speed and precipitation. These systems aren't just weather monitors, they are also potent tools for research on topics from farming to renewable energy generation.

Commercial weather stations can cost thousands of dollars, limiting both their availability and thus the amount of climate data that can be collected. But the advent of 3D printing and low-cost sensors have made it possible to build a weather station for a few hundred dollars. Could these inexpensive, homegrown versions perform as well as their pricier counterparts?

With $1M in federal aid, Mountain View pours more money into renter relief | News | Mountain View

The unanimous decision is the latest round of cash to be pumped into the city's COVID-19 relief effort, and is a direct result of $1 million in CARES Act funding awarded to the city. Of the money, $500,000 was immediately routed to Community Services Agency (CSA) to help families who are struggling to stay housed while out of work.

To date, a bulk of the city's COVID-19 support has come in the form of renter relief, burning through millions of dollars since March to help renters who are at risk of losing their home because they are out of work as a result of the pandemic. County officials and nonprofit leaders have referred to the problem as an eviction time bomb waiting to go off, as tens of thousands of tenants fall behind on rental payments.

Industry review: in HBO's drama, true equality comes from money - The Verge

Industry — created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, with a pilot directed by Lena Dunham — is set in London's world of high-stakes investment banking, and it follows a diverse group of fresh graduates who are the latest hires for the fictional Pierpoint & Co. Cliché abounds, especially in the way the young new hires are hazed and degraded by their superiors. The bottom line is that coffee and lunch runs are as vital to their jobs as mind-numbing paperwork that nobody else wants to do.

That's according to a lawsuit filed in an Ohio court by three Beam vendors who say they are being wrongly blamed for the delays.

CNBC has also learned that Beam, based in San Francisco, has lost its rights to do business in California after failing to file any tax returns, according to a spokesperson for the state's Franchise Tax Board.

My last letter to the editor, after Trump mocked those in nursing homes and in wheelchairs, I asked, who is he going to degrade next? Guess I got my answer.
