Budgeting 2021: Not for the faint of heart - The Business Journal

Photo by Edward Smith Neon tube bending is a small part of the business at Fresno Neon Sign Co. Employees there still practice what K.C. Rutiaga considers an art form, largely for collectors of old signs.

When K.C. Rutiaga planned her 2020 budget for Fresno Neon Sign Co, she was excited for what the year would bring. A number of large projects were slated to keep them busy for a while — one project in particular being almost equal in value to their yearly revenue. But as it did for everyone else, 2020 threw her for a loop.

YouTube will end full-day 'masthead' reservations like Trump used

The Google -owned company confirmed to CNBC Monday that it will be "retiring" reservations for full-day advertisements on its coveted home page ad spot known as its masthead beginning in 2021, a change it said it communicated to advertisers earlier this year. Instead, advertisers will only be able to buy that spot on a per-impression basis, making it harder for a single advertiser to dominate the page for a day at a time.

Google says the change affects all advertisers, and is not connected "in any way" to the election or political advertising broadly.

Though it’s still less than two months into the most unpredictable school year in modern history, the Guilford Public School district is navigating the financial uncertainties of a hybrid remote and in-person system fairly well, according to a report presented last month to the Board of Finance (BOF), with expenditures roughly matching 2019 so far.

With expenditures at around $4.85 million through September, or 21.25 percent of the budget, the schools are just under last year’s mark of 21.27 of the yearly budget, according to Board of Education (BOE) Vice Chair Amy Sullivan.

Expanding overseas is a natural step for many successful businesses to take. However, major expansions are not without their risks. If you are thinking about taking your company overseas, you need to budget for the following key elements.

* * *

Production costs can vary wildly from one market to another. If you plan on producing products locally, you must establish your supply routes and workflows before you land. It's no good trying to improvise them as you go. In some cases, you won't have much choice over where you get materials from and where you ship goods to. Your supply lines will be chosen for you.
