The tax revenues paid to Isla Vista's two-year-old government and where they've been going was the topic at the November 5 meeting of the Local Area Formation Commission, or LAFCO, as it looked at the benefits to the community from the creation of the I.V. Community Services District in 2016. At issue was the renewed threat to remove the ability to provide services if they hadn't been undertaken by now.
LAFCO had resisted the formation of a government in Isla Vista for decades, and it literally took an act of California's Legislature — Assembly Bill 3, authored by then-Assemblymember Das Williams — to form the IVCSD. A vote to establish the Community Services District followed in 2016, and the ability to raise revenue followed in a vote in 2018.

Committee members administering a Lyon County Economic Development Relief Grant took no action on final awards Friday, but they made an important clarification as the process continues.

Committee member Kala Maxfield says the Lyon County Commission recently alerted the committee non-profits had been encouraged to apply.
Several nonprofits, including Corner House, CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness, the Emporia Senior Center and the Granada Theatre, made applications totaling $1.1 million, and there was some thought the nonprofits would get none of the $816,000 being overseen by the committee after meetings last month.

Joe Biden's transition team will have several million dollars to work with as it puts together the foundation of a potential Biden administration, including Cabinet members.

Biden's transition team, according to people briefed on the matter, is on track to far exceed its original fundraising goal of at least $7 million . These people declined to be named in order to speak freely.
The transition team is responsible for helping choose and confirm the president-elect's nominees to leadership positions within the government, such as the secretary of Treasury and the attorney general. The money raised for the transition fund often goes to salaries and other needs.
Trump stumps for Wisconsin recount funds; it may be used to defray campaign debt
MADISON - President Donald Trump is raising money for a recount in Wisconsin following his defeat to former Vice President Joe Biden , but the money could be used to pay down the president's campaign debt instead.
In the Trump campaign's latest push to raise money for its "election defense" fund, at least half of any donation could go toward paying down debt for the president's campaign, according to the fine print.
The Trump campaign has mounted legal challenges in several battleground states that delivered a victory Saturday to Biden.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, an issue that was garnering much attention in the City of Buffalo this past winter was put on hold. Now that school has resumed to some extent, it is time to revisit the money grab scheme called the 15 mph speed limit in school zones. Fifteen miles per hour is next to impossible to maintain on busy city streets; it is almost like standing still.
Not only is the reduced speed limit too low, I contend that it is not necessary to have this limit in place from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m.. depending on location. The more reasonable solution would be to have 25 mph in school zones from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and resume from 2 to 4 p.m. For example, the Town of Amherst posts speed limits of 30 mph in school zones on Main Street from 7 to 8 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m., not all day.
