In early February, things were looking good for Practice San Francisco , a center offering individual psychotherapy and classes for children and adults that promote physical and mental well-being. Business was so good that owner Nina Kaiser, a psychologist, had just renovated and moved into a bigger space with the goal of doubling revenue.
Then the coronavirus pandemic hit. In early March, Ms. Kaiser moved all her classes and counseling services online. Fairly quickly, however, video fatigue set in. "After a few weeks, we saw a big downturn in attendance across all our programs, even psychotherapy," she said. Thus began a period of "endless pivoting and troubleshooting."

RICHMOND, Va. -- Retail experts predict heavy spending on the biggest online shopping day of the year as shoppers gear up to spend on Cyber Monday despite the global pandemic.
"We are running sales because it is the holiday season," Marla Rene said. "On Cyber Monday, we have 25 percent off site-wide."
Rene said her beauty company has a strong e-commerce following, which has allowed them to open up their location in Midlothian this month.

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) -- Starting this weekend, Downtown Partners is hosting a Small Business Marketplace.

Restaurants, boutiques, and food trucks will be open or feature a pop-up shop downtown to showcase their business.
Organizers say the event is designed to promote downtown businesses and invite other local small businesses to set up a storefront for the holiday season.
"Small businesses need business too. We're here for our own dreams so we just want people to support our businesses. Just with the way the year has been, small businesses have needed a way to survive."

The sounds of a saxophone warbling jazzy Christmas tunes echoed up and down Water Street. Shoppers strolled along the sidewalks, virtually all were wearing face masks.
“Everyone’s supporting beautifully today,” said antique dealer Elizabeth Flom. “The crowd is a little low right now, but it’s definitely still hustling and bustling. I think everyone just wants to be out.”

"I wanted to be intentional with bringing in and supporting local businesses here in Seattle," said Sean Conroe, the general manager of B8ta's in Seattle's University Village.
B8ta is a retail company that features small businesses trying to expand their reach to the public.
Conroe said about 25% of sales they made on Saturday came directly from the six local brands they featured.
The pandemic has closed or altered the futures of many small businesses and left more reeling. Conroe believes the public is being more intentional with their money this year.
