SMBs Invest in Cybersecurity Budget and Firewall Technology - Infosecurity Magazine

Small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) are proactively putting tools in place to combat attacks whilst working with limited security budgets and constrainted resources.

She said 45% of respondents also confirmed news about large scale data breaches and companies dealing with these have shifted their network security roadmap. “This shows that SMBs are prioritizing some form of cybersecurity, but within their limited budgets,” she added. “This can be focusing on a firewall solution one year, and then endpoint security options in another.”

When finance ministry officials present a draft budget to the lower house of Congress later on Tuesday, investors in both Mexico and the debt of its ailing state oil company Petroleos Mexicanos will scrutinize spending priorities.

Protecting Your Critical Inventions On A Tight Budget

For example, U.S. patent laws have time requirements for filing patent applications. If your company publicly discloses an invention or sells a product with the invention, those activities can trigger a one-year deadline to file a patent application covering it. If you don’t act before the one-year deadline, you can forfeit your ability to obtain patent protection.

Don’t let limited funds prevent you from protecting key inventions. To get the most value from a tight budget, here is a three-step system to protect your most valuable inventions.

Mexican Economy Seen Growing 4.6% in 2021 in Draft Budget Plan - The New York Times

MEXICO CITY — Mexico's economy will likely grow by 4.6% next year, according to a draft budget proposal published on Tuesday, suggesting the road to recovery will be long and arduous for one of the countries worst hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

Mexico faces a tricky balancing act of reviving an economy battered by the pandemic while also sticking to President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's commitment to austerity.

The finance ministry draft, which was made public by officials at the lower house of Congress, also predicts that Mexico's primary budget balance - the calculation which excludes interest payments on existing debt - will be nil next year.

Microsoft confirms new, budget Xbox Series S that will sell for $299

Microsoft has confirmed that its upcoming next-generation Xbox console will have a cheaper option for price-conscious consumers.

In a tweet sent at 3 a.m. Tuesday, the Seattle-based tech giant unveiled a photo of the mini version of its new Xbox Series S console, which it said will sell for just $299.

The console, which Microsoft called its “smallest Xbox ever,” will be launched alongside Microsoft’s larger Xbox Series S. The company did not detail what tradeoffs consumers will be making if they go with the $299 console — the same price as Nintendo’s mega-popular Switch — instead of its $499 big brother, but a report from Microsoft blog Windows Central suggests it likely has scaled back processing power.

Apple's next big launch event will take place on September 15th

Today's announcement comes after weeks of speculation about Apple's fall event timing, which historically hasn't been too difficult to guess. The company has been holding its annual iPhone press conferences in September since 2012, and tends to stage those events on the second Tuesday or Wednesday of the month. Simple enough.

* * *

That threw the usual timetable into disarray and led to a handful of off-the-mark guesses, which are unavoidable even now. Persistent rumors have suggested that the iPhone 12 series won't actually be unveiled until some time in October, so it's possible this event could exclusively be about devices like the iPad and Apple Watch. Meanwhile, the event's tagline — "Time Flies" — indicates that the Apple Watch will be the show's major player.

Little if Any Revenue Growth Expected in Mexico's 2021 Budget, Lawmaker Says - The New York

MEXICO CITY — The Mexican government's 2021 spending blueprint will likely forecast revenue similar to this year's level, or 6.1 trillion pesos ($282 billion), a senior lawmaker said on Monday, modestly boosting health spending but keeping taxes at current levels.

The budget plan, set to be formally unveiled on Tuesday, forecasts a primary deficit but also an improving economy, said Erasmo Gonzalez, the head of the budget committee in the lower house of Congress and a member of the ruling Morena party.
