The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce is partnering with One True North, a leadership and business coaching solutions practice in Valencia, to offer a workshop to guide businesses on how to maintain during this unprecedented time.

GrowthCLUB is set to be a  virtual 90-day action plan workshop for the business community, providing businesses with the opportunity to learn more profound distinctions on best practices on how to lead your team for results, how to optimize working in the "new normal" and how to develop a vision for the future.

Almost 60 percent of business closures are now permanent, new Yelp data shows

Yelp on Wednesday released its latest Economic Average Report, revealing business closures across the U.S. are increasing as a result of the coronavirus pandemic's economic toll.

As of Aug. 31, 163,735 businesses have indicated on Yelp that they have closed, a 23 percent increase since mid-July.

Yelp also measures businesses whose closures have become permanent. That number has steadily increased over the past six months, now reaching 97,966, representing 60 percent of closed businesses that won't be reopening.

Coronavirus stimulus: House Republicans try to force PPP small business vote

House Republicans will attempt to quickly force a vote on a bill to replenish a key coronavirus small business aid program, according to congressional aides.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi , D-Calif., has repeatedly said the chamber will only take up a comprehensive coronavirus relief package. Democratic leaders have previously rejected efforts to renew standalone relief policies such as unemployment insurance as they push for legislation that would cost at least $2.2 trillion.

First round of virus-related business aid coming | Coronavirus | meadvilletribune.com

Crawford County is set to award its first round of COVID-19 pandemic small business assistance program funds to 20 businesses around the county.

At their voting meeting next week, county commissioners are expected to approve the awarding of grants of up to $10,000 each to the initial 20 firms.

The direct grants, for small businesses with fewer than 100 employees, reimburse operating costs which have been impacted by the pandemic.

Business Notes: Washington Sports Clubs owner files for bankruptcy

The parent company of Washington Sports Clubs, a chain of membership-based fitness centers, has filed for bankruptcy in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.

Town Sports International filed on Monday for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which allows the company to restructure itself. Court filings say there are between 10,001 and 25,000 creditors.

Washington Sports Clubs has locations on Old Georgetown Road in North Bethesda and Wayne Avenue in downtown Silver Spring . A downtown Bethesda location on Wisconsin Avenue closed in June .
