Twin Cities short-term rental market takes a beating: 'Our whole business shifted' -

On a good month, the upper floor of Michael and Krista Browne’s Minneapolis duplex near the University of Minnesota and Stone Arch Bridge could pull in $2,750 to $3,000 as an Airbnb rental. For the Brownes and many other vacation rental owners in the Twin Cities, there haven’t been many good months this year.

“We were spending money to manage month to month, but not seeing income,” said Krista Browne.

This spring, when COVID-19 slammed the brakes on travel and cancellations exceeded new bookings, Browne grew weary of the uncertainty. She turned the Airbnb into a long-term rental that now fetches only $1,800 a month, upending the couple’s plans to convert the 1,000 square-foot unit they occupied into a short-term rental that would help fund the purchase of a house — they have a toddler and she’s pregnant with twins.

Mexico likely to trim Pemex 2021 output goal, lawmaker says - HoustonChronicle.com

Mexico is likely to cut its crude production goal for 2021 after missing this year’s target, said a senior lawmaker from the ruling party, in a sign of continued trouble for the state-owned oil company and the country’s public finances.

The government’s preliminary 2.027 million barrels a day output goal for Petroleos Mexicanos next year is stretched, the lower house’s Budget Committee Chair Erasmo Gonzalez told Bloomberg News ahead of the government’s budget release next week. The company known as Pemex is still in position to increase it’s production from current levels after hitting in July its lowest output since October 1979, he said.

How to Get the Most Out of Your New, Lean IT Budget - InformationWeek

At many companies, IT budgets are being trimmed. IT decision makers faced with financial cutbacks tell us they’re concerned about maintaining service levels, their 2020 projects, and aligning their organizations with 2021’s business objectives.

However, a smaller budget alone is not necessarily a problem for IT. Even with budget adjustments, it’s still possible to meet customer expectations and uphold the integrity of solutions. The larger problem is when organizations haven’t allocated budget to support IT innovation in the first place. As a result, they wind up with duplicate or inefficient investments that don’t fulfill key business outcomes.
