CLEVELAND, Ohio - Free help from a non-profit credit counseling agency is available for people coping with budget problems, which can be especially bad for many during the coronavirus pandemic, advises the National Foundation for Credit Counseling.
That's one tip offered by financial experts as That's Rich!, cleveland.com's and The Plain Dealer's personal finance column, this past week explored budgeting tips during tough economic times.
Among the advice: (1) break down your budget in terms of needs and wants; (2) search for better deals on things such as car and home insurance, electric bills and cell phone plans; (3) try to negotiate a settlement with credit card companies if you're way behind.

As more work from home, future of office space is unclear | News, Sports, Jobs - Times
DES MOINES — Mike Mallaro spent the better part of last year touring office space to lease or purchase for his growing company, VGM Group Inc., in Waterloo.
The plan was to expand into at least 50,000 square feet of additional space, with the goal of adding hundreds of employees. VGM is an employee-owned company that offers professional services to help businesses grow.
10 Mistakes People Make When Starting a Digital Marketing Agency
Like in any other type of business, setting the right expectations for your clients is a must. Don’t overpromise, especially when you’re not sure if you’ll deliver those results. It’s better to let go of a lead with unrealistic expectations rather than closing the sale and having to deal with an upset client along the way. Be honest with yourself and with them.
Don’t go into debt. Debt can often represent a problem for your business because of the unknowns of a new endeavor. In a moment of crisis or in the event that you need to downsize your expenses, having that fixed payment can take a toll on your business. Remaining debt-free as much as possible will be a huge asset for you as you start out.
Bird just released new low-cost and lightweight electric scooter: the Bird Air

* * *
Priced at just $599, the Bird Air fits snugly between the major $300-ish low-cost electric scooters and the $650-ish mid-cost electric scooters .
The scooter tops out at a speed of 16 mph (25 km/h). There’s no word on its motor power yet, but this level of scooter usually rocks a 250-300W motor, so we expect something similar on the Bird Air.

Closeout budget just one more piece of unfinished business | WWLP
BOSTON (SHNS) – It’s a rather obscure annual function of state government that, were things to go smoothly, would attract minimal attention or interest. But closing out the just-ended budget year has not gone smoothly recently in Massachusetts, and the COVID-19 pandemic threatens to further complicate the process this year.
The state comptroller must finalize the books on the fiscal year that ends each June 30 and file the state’s annual Statutory Basis Financial Report by each Oct. 31. Before the comptroller can prepare the SBFR, though, the Legislature must pass a so-called closeout supplemental budget and the governor must sign it into law.

Chunghwa Post yesterday said that it would launch a co-branded Visa debit card with Taipei Rapid Transit Corp (TRTC) before the end of this year.
People would be able to use the cards to access public transport systems nationwide, including MRT systems and public bus services, once the proposal secures approval from the Financial Supervisory Commission, the postal company said.

It has so far issued only about 4 million cards, which shows there is still plenty of room for growth, it said.
