Audit Finds Errors In Worcester Police Overtime Pay Reporting | Worcester, MA Patch

The Boston firm CliftonLarsonAllen LLP audited Worcester's fiscal year 2019 finances, which included random tests of city accounts ranging from police to a Green Hill Golf Course fund.

In reviewing police overtime pay, the firm found supervisors are not always providing narratives describing why they granted overtime. In other instances, overtime forms did not include the printed name of an officer, making it difficult to tell who the pay was for.

USPS Refuses to Comply With Judge's Order to Allow All Overtime Before Election - Government

The U.S. Postal Service is refusing to unilaterally approve overtime for employees in the run up to the election after a federal judge initially ordered it to do so as part of a nationwide injunction.

USPS and attorneys representing New York City politicians and others in Jones v. USPS came to an agreement on Friday to implement the majority of the judge's order, including reversing initiatives that have caused mail delays and prioritizing ballots for expedited delivery. They did not agree, however, on a portion of the judge's ruling requiring the Postal Service to pre-approve overtime requests prior to the election.

Political spat over Erie County COVID overtime costs turns nasty | wgrz.com

Since July, Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw and County Executive Mark Poloncarz have battled over COVID related overtime costs upwards of $800,000 incurred by some county officials. Mentioned most notably among them is health commissioner Dr. Gale Burstein and her oft-mentioned overtime figure of $88,000.

When Mychajliw issued his most recent report showing Erie County's overtime costs far exceeding those of some 50 other counties combined, Poloncarz fired back, saying that the overtime costs were legitimate. He also stressed that Erie County has a costly responsibility for extra testing for the region with its county lab, which is one of only three in the state.

Union blames lack of overtime for San Jose's fire inspection backlog - San José Spotlight

Despite having filled nearly all of its vacant positions, San Jose's Fire Prevention Bureau will likely fall behind in conducting fire inspections — and largely because of its failure to pay overtime.

"There's a short-term solution to try to bring down the backlog and that is to reinstate the allowance of (paid) overtime," said Matt Mason, lead organizer for Local 21, which represents inspection engineers. "We're still at a loss as to why that hasn't been done."
