Private equity firms take stakes in accounting firms | Accounting Today

Private equity firms are increasing their funding of accounting firms in a pair of deals announced this week, with Lightyear Capital partnering with Schellman & Co., and CVC Capital Partners investing in CFGI.

Lightyear said Friday that its affiliated investment funds have agreed to acquire assets from and partner with Schellman in forming a new technology and cybersecurity venture known as Schellman Compliance LLC.

COSO, Deloitte offer AI risk management guide | Accounting Today

The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission has teamed up with Deloitte on a new guide to help organizations combine their risk management efforts with their artificial intelligence initiatives.

Some of the possible risk factors can include cybersecurity, data risks, bias and ethics. In one survey, Deloitte found that 62% of the respondents have significant concerns about cybersecurity vulnerabilities, but only 39% are addressing those risks.

Former Accounting Coordinator for Non-Profit Organization Sentenced to Prison for Embezzling More

PITTSBURGH, PA - A resident of Pittsburgh, PA, has been sentenced in federal court to 17 months of prison followed by two years of supervised release on her conviction of bank fraud, Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced today.

United States District Judge David S. Cercone imposed the sentence on Danielle Strother-Rush, 34, of Columbia Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15218.
