JP Technology failed to pay required overtime: US Labor Department

LOGAN - A manufacturer here violated federal law when it failed to give overtime pay to some employees who worked more than 40 hours a week, the U.S. Labor Department said.

An investigation into pay practices at JP Technology Inc. led to the recovery of almost $115,000 in back pay and damages for seven workers, the agency said Thursday.

The FLSA establishes overtime exemptions for “bona fide executive, administrative, [and] professional” employees from overtime. To qualify for an exemption, the employee must be paid on a “salary basis” and satisfy certain duties tests.

'Dune' VFX Firm DNEG To Pay Enhanced Overtime To UK Employees – Deadline

Tenet and Dune VFX firm DNEG has announced plans to pay overtime to its UK employees in what it calls a “transformative move” that is a departure from industry norms.

Beginning in October, DNEG says it will pay enhanced overtime to its London employees at a 1.5x rate for all staff in non-management positions and for all incremental time that they are asked to work beyond the standard 40-hour week.
