The Truth About Money Management

I sat down with reputed money-management mentor Chris Naugle (who, full disclosure, is also a personal friend) to discuss this important topic, and he started off with this gem: “Money isn’t complicated. I’ve spoken with so many people who have held onto this common misconception that they’ve developed from an early age.

“The truth is that money is simply a tool. A tool that has a right and a wrong way to use it. Unfortunately, most of what we are taught is the wrong way, and that’s where a majority of our money problems stem from. Trust me, I know it’s hard to hear — or believe — that everything you’ve ever been taught about money is flat-out wrong."

Foreigners poured money into China amid the coronavirus pandemic

BEIJING — Foreigners put more of their money in China last year as the country's size and growth stood out in a world still trying to manage the coronavirus pandemic.

In the capital city of Beijing, foreign investors claimed more than a third of commercial real estate deals, an increase from prior years, property manager JLL said Thursday.

"Beijing is expected to remain a strong choice for foreign investors, particularly as the nation's capital is predicted to see more signs of recovery sooner than most other major markets overseas," Michael Wang, senior director of capital markets for JLL North China, said in a release.

The pandemic has caused a lot of manufacturing delays, which means it’s hard to find kitchen appliances. Some stores are now selling them used, and that’s not always working out well.

It’s tough finding refrigerators and many appliances but some people who have purchased used ones are cautioning others who are interested in doing the same.

The Races Are Digital, and So Are the Ads, but the Money Is Real - The New York Times

It requires money. And money requires sponsors. And sponsors require spectators who they hope will become customers. Which became a problem for motorsports when Covid-19 shut down tracks worldwide early last year. The cash drought put teams, tracks and race series in danger of extinction.

In an experiment, NBC and Fox replaced the canceled races with sim races. No one knew if digital cars would draw viewers and pay off for sponsors. Traditionally, racecars served as high-speed billboards leading consumers to clamor for the engine oil proved superior by the winning car. Could a sim car sell engine oil, having neither an engine nor oil?

Americans are saving more—what the money is earmarked for - MarketWatch

Families across the U.S. are financially diverse — and so is how they save. But across the board, more are saving now than ever before, whether it's for emergency expenses or retirement.

The recently released 2019 Survey of Consumer Finances from the Federal Reserve Board allows a 30-year look-back on family finances to see how saving practices have changed. The data reveals that Americans have better access to financial assets like bank and investment accounts, but it also shows that wide disparities persist in who has those assets and how much they're worth.

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio -- A few years ago, Fire Chief Chris Lyons had an idea to revamp emergency communications within the city. Last year, he finally got his chance to move forward with the project, which eventually will save the city $18,000 a year.

"At the time," Lyons said, "I talked to central dispatch (WestCom, which serves a number of west-side communities) to work with us. Once everyone saw what we were after, they said, 'This is a good idea.'"
