COVID-19 cases soar, likely accounting for holiday transmission
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Alabama reported nearly 5,500 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, pushing the seven-day case average to nearly 4,000 per day.
This is one of a few times the state has exceed the 5,000 case mark. The Alabama Department of Public Health issued a notice stating some of the cases reported for the day were delayed by the recent holidays.
While it didn't say how many, Tuesday's total is still nearly 200 cases higher than the previous record.
