"Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and I feel like we need to make sure that our politicians and leadership in Washington D.C. understands that," said Joe Fugere, the owner of Tutta Bella Pizzeria.

CT Business Owners Thankful For State Grants | Across Connecticut, CT Patch

CONNECTICUT — Some Connecticut businesses that were hit the hardest by the coronavirus pandemic have received checks from the state as a bridge to the federal Paycheck Protection Program.

Connecticut created a $35 million business recovery program using federal funds for the 2,000 businesses that were hit the hardest by the pandemic. Around 60 percent of the money went to the restaurant and lodging industries, said state Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner David Lehman in a roundtable discussion about small business struggles in Connecticut.

Baker to Tour Gillette Vaccination Site, Give Update on COVID Business Relief Program – NBC

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker is expected to tour a mass vaccination site at Gillette Stadium and provide an update on the state's COVID-19 Small Business Grant Program, Thursday.

Baker is scheduled to tour the stadium at 12 p.m. and then hold a separate press conference related to the grant program at 2 p.m.

The tour of Gillette comes after it opened this week a site where eligible residents can receive COVID-19 vaccine shots. Fenway Park in Boston is expected to become a vaccination site on Feb. 1.

Mayoral hopeful's business hit by vandalism

PEORIA (WEEK) - A Peoria mayoral candidate woke up Wednesday to find her business had been vandalized.

Chama St. Louis' dance studio had a window shattered. St. Louis told 25 News she feels she was targeted, but not by any other candidates. She's filed a police report, and the vandalism is under investigation.

"This just gives me more determination, and it makes me feel like even more so than before that Peoria needs change, said St. Louis.
