Senate Bill 5172 creates a phased-in path toward full overtime pay for agricultural workers by 2024. For 2022, they ensure overtime pay for any time worked over 55 hours a week; 48 hours a week in 2023; and 40 hours a week by 2024.

House Democrats have reintroduced legislation to ensure farmworkers are compensated fairly for overtime work, an attempt to confront existing labor laws that have excluded them from such rights for more than 80 years.
The "Fairness for Farm Workers Act," which would compensate farmworkers for any overtime exceeding 40 hours per week, was introduced on Thursday. Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva (D-AZ), who co-sponsored the effort, said the measure would amend the 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act and bring to an end discriminatory provisions preventing farmworkers from receiving overtime pay.

A transit worker in recent years raked in at least $79,000 of unauthorized overtime pay thanks to a breakdown in the MTA's management structure, says a report published Wednesday by the agency's inspector general.
The worker, a payroll processor in NYC Transit's track department, was granted an hour or two of overtime for nearly every shift she worked from November 2018 to March 2019, even though overtime is a rarity for MTA desk workers, the IG's audit found.

Finch, 59, of Franklin, has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit theft concerning programs receiving federal funds and one count of embezzlement from an agency receiving federal funds. Finch will make an appearance via videoconference in federal court in Boston at a date to be set by the Court.
According to charging documents, members of Boston Police Department's Evidence Control Unit (ECU), were responsible for, among other things, storing, cataloging and retrieving evidence at the warehouse. ECU officers were eligible to earn overtime pay of 1.5 times their regular hourly pay rate for overtime assignments.
Former Epicurean Hotel chef sues managers, says unpaid overtime led to firing
The former executive chef of Tampa's Epicurean Hotel is suing its owners, alleging he was fired after complaining that his staff wasn't getting paid overtime.
Jason Bamford, who led the kitchen at the culinary-themed boutique hotel from 2019 until last December, filed the suit against the hotel's management on Thursday in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida in Tampa, saying their actions violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Bamford oversaw the hotel's Elevage restaurant, Edge rooftop cocktail bar and other corporate and meeting spaces. His suit claims that on Dec. 10, he complained that his co-workers were not being paid overtime, in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. About a week later, the suit claims, he was fired in retaliation.
