Aerion Supersonic shuts down, ending plans for silent business jets
Aerion Supersonic, the Nevada-based company that planned to build business jets capable of silently flying nearly twice as fast as commercial aircraft, is shutting down, the company confirmed to CNBC on Friday.
"In the current financial environment, it has proven hugely challenging to close on the scheduled and necessary large new capital requirements" to begin production of its AS2 supersonic jet, the company said in a statement.
"Aerion Corporation is now taking the appropriate steps in consideration of this ongoing financial environment," the company said.

Downtown Detroit restaurants hopeful office workers' return boosts business
Firebird Tavern co-owners Owen Burke and Tony Piraino see the return of thousands of Rocket Companies Inc. employees to its downtown Detroit offices as a barometer for how the 8-year-old establishment moves forward.
"(The app) slowly caught on," Burke said. "We think we'll get more use out of it as people return."
The Firebird Tavern owners hope to expand their hours, which are 3-11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. They'll need additional staff before any hours are added, as the restaurant has dropped from 32 employees pre-pandemic to 11, including the two co-owners. Burke said they hope to add 10-15 more staffers, including cooks and servers.

"Downtown is going to come back stronger and bigger than ever," said David Fhima, founder and executive chef at Fhima's Minneapolis.

The city of Richmond’s casino advisory panel has recommended Silver Spring, Maryland-based Urban One Inc.’s $600 million ONE Casino + Resort proposal to move forward for consideration by City Council and citizens, Mayor Levar Stoney’s office announced Thursday. If Council approves the recommendation and voters support it in a November referendum, the resort will be the first casino under Black ownership in the country.
Urban One owns and operates 55 radio stations and the TV One cable network. For this project, the company’s first casino, it has paired with Peninsula Pacific Entertainment, owner of Colonial Downs Group and the Rosie's Gaming Emporium franchise. The casino is proposed to be built on 100 acres owned by Altria Group Inc. on the city’s South Side, near Interstate 95.

Business owner receives citation after anti-Semitic graffiti is sprayed on his property – WSB-TV
DORAVILLE, Ga. — Exactly one year after a Doraville business owner found a swastika sprayed on the side of a building he's helping to redevelop, he was in a Doraville city courtroom fighting a citation the officials issued him over the graffiti.
Channel 2′s Mike Petchenik first reported on the Jewish family's angst over finding the anti-Semitic symbol on the building, which sits along Buford Highway.
Doraville police investigated and never found the culprit, but a code enforcement officer who visited the property on May 21, 2020 did issue a citation to Lazarian for numerous code violations, including the graffiti, trash and debris, overgrown weeds and an unsecured building.
