SPRINGFIELD – Owners of a barbershop, a diner, an automotive shop and a video store are among 13 Indian Orchard entrepreneurs awarded small business grants to help them through the coronavirus shutdown.
Each will receive $500 in the first round of grants selected by the Indian Orchard Citizens Council.
"We are happy to announce the recipients of the first round of the Eastman Foundation's Relief Grants intended to help small businesses meet the many unanticipated expenses that have been placed upon them as a condition for re-opening', said Zaida Govan, President of the Indian Orchard Citizens Council.

Chicago Business Services Office Closed After Employee Tests Positive for Coronavirus – NBC
The Secretary of State's office announced Sunday that it will close its Business Services Office in Chicago until early August after an employee tested positive for coronavirus.
The office, which handles business service filings, including articles of incorporation and of organization, will shutter its doors until Aug. 6 after an employee was diagnosed with the illness, according to a press release.
According to the release, the Illinois Department of Health was consulted on the situation, and has said the public is not directly impacted by the situation.

ST. CLOUD — Three local lawyers have been named in 2020 "Super Lawyers" magazine, a lawyer rating service.
Aaron Decker and Sarah Jewell have been named to the rising star list, a July 20 press release from Franz Hultgren Evenson, P.A., said. Rising stars are 40 or younger or in practice for fewer than 10 years. The rising stars list recognizes approximately 2.5% of attorneys in the state, the Super Lawyers website said.
JoAnn Evenson was named to the Super Lawyers list, which recognizes 5% of Minnesota's attorneys. According to the press release, she was also named one of the top women attorneys in Minnesota by the rating service.

Royal Oak Commission to take up pot business ordinance
Royal Oak — Following months of debate and planning, the Royal Oak City Commission is poised to decide on where marijuana businesses may locate in that city.
Officials are expected to take up the matter during a Zoom meeting Monday night in which there will be a second reading of a proposed ordinance for commercial marijuana establishments. Residents can call in and leave voice recordings of their support or concerns between 4-6 p.m. at (248) 246-3411. They also can monitor the meeting on their local cable TV channel or on the city's website.
