Iowa lottery revenues and prizes drop, but it meets budget | Business | nonpareilonline.com

The Crossword game is among those in a display of lottery tickets at the Wilson Avenue SW HyVee on Thursday, March 12, 2009, in Cedar Rapids. The Wilson Avenue store is the top lottery sales location in Iowa.

Iowa Lottery ticket sales, revenue earned for the state and prize money awarded to players all dropped during the past fiscal year, but the lottery still met its budget targets despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Preliminary figures released Friday show the Iowa Lottery generated about $81.5 million in proceeds to state causes from $372 million in sales during the 12 months that ended June 30. Players collected about $236.3 million in prizes.

Q2 Takeaways From A Midstream Company That Matters

The numbers were never going to be pretty for North American energy midstream companies. Management teams warned this spring that COVID-19 fallout was crushing volumes on both the upstream and downstream ends of the business. And that's exactly what happened at Kinder Morgan Inc (KMI), the first sector company to release results.

Not surprisingly, Kinder's CO2 and enhanced oil recovery division was hit hard by production curtailments and lower energy prices. But at less than 10 percent of EBDA, it had only a minor impact on the bottom line.

The Hidden Reason Why Companies Are Cutting Facebook Spending (It's Not Fake

Most of Facebook's revenue comes from small businesses. Still, large corporations made up nearly 25% of annual revenue for the company in fiscal 2019. Understandably, Facebook is not taking the changes lightly. It set up a meeting with the leaders of the boycott, which CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg attended, to work toward a solution.

The CCPA changes how an organization deals with consumers' data in California. Additionally, it gives the people of California the right to opt-out of specific data-collecting and data-sharing policies. California is a lucrative market for advertisers, with its wealthy coastal cities and a population of nearly 40 million people. Uncertainty regarding the achievable targeting in such a large market may be giving marketers pause.

Indonesia may return tax to companies amid pandemic: deputy finance minister -

JAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesia is considering returning tax paid by companies to support them during the coronavirus pandemic, the country’s deputy finance minister said on Friday, as the government seeks to retune parts of its economic stimulus.

Southeast Asia’s largest economy has budgeted 695.2 trillion rupiah ($47.81 billion) for its pandemic response, but some existing tax incentives had not been widely taken up, Suahasil Nazara said in an online interview.

LETTER: Budget reforms critical for taxpayers and financial stability in pandemic era - News -

The Standard-Times verifies and reviews all letters to the editor we receive. The letters represent the views of the letter writers, not those of The Standard-Times.

It is against this sobering backdrop, and with major uncertainties still ahead, I recently presented to the City Council the Fiscal Year 2021 City Budget. The document reflects four assumptions:

First, state aid — 53% of city government’s operating revenue — will inevitably be cut, perhaps significantly. Every expert group predicts that state income tax and other revenues will be off sharply. The Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation has put the state revenue loss at a whopping $6 billion. We’ve built our Budget therefore with the assumption that unrestricted state aid will be $1 million lower than this past year.
