Coronavirus: Budget airline AirAsia's future in ‘significant doubt’ - BBC News

Coronavirus: Budget airline AirAsia's future in 'significant doubt' - BBC News

The future of Asia's biggest budget airline, AirAsia, is in "significant doubt", auditor Ernst & Young has said.

Shares in the Malaysian-based airline fell by more than 10% on Wednesday after being halted earlier in the day.

The airline's founder and chief executive is tycoon Tony Fernandes, who also co-owns Queens Park Rangers (QPR) football club in the UK.

The world's airlines have been hit hard by the sharp fall in passengers due to strict coronavirus travel restrictions.

FTSE 100 dives further; Deutsche Bank slapped with US$150mln fine around Jeffrey Epstein scandal

The Footsie was back to its earlier losses, now shedding 28 points to 6,160, as investors wait for the Treasury mini-budget.

"The FTSE 100 started off sharply lower before yo-yoing back to near parity in early trading on Wednesday," says AJ Bell investment director Russ Mould.

"The market's apparent indecision is understandable when you consider it has to balance the ongoing risks from coronavirus with the willingness of governments and central banks to prop up."

Elicker Fills In The Blanks On $2M In Cuts | New Haven Independent

The mayor has cut over $521,000 from the city’s police department budget as part of a Board of Alders-mandated quest to reduce city spending by over $2 million.

When the Board of Alders amended and signed off on the city’s $567.9 million FY21 general fund budget at the end of May , the local legislators ordered the mayor to find $2,004,300 in non-Board of Education operational cuts.

They imposed that requirement so as to allow for a smaller tax increase than initially proposed in the budget that the mayor initially introduced in March. The alders did not, however, tell Elicker where to find those savings. They just told him to cut.
