How Do You Calculate Blended Overtime Pay? - business.com

If an hourly employee works beyond 40 hours in a week, they are entitled to overtime pay. However, if that employee performs different roles for different pay, you may have to use what is called a "blended rate" to calculate their overtime pay.

Did you know? Many employees are exempt from the FLSA's mandatory overtime pay rules, including salaried employees in managerial or executive positions.

'Salt Bae' steakhouse chain sued for allegedly stiffing pay

This time, five of the company’s grill men — who said they were recruited to move from Turkey to work at the company’s US locations — have filed a lawsuit, alleging that they were stiffed on overtime pay.

The suit, which was filed Tuesday in Manhattan federal court, alleges that Nusret Gokce, who was nicknamed “Salt Bae” by internet users, misclassified the five employees as managers to avoid paying overtime — while insisting they regularly work seventy hours or more per week.

'Salt Bae' Accused of Mislabeling Employees as 'Managers' to Avoid Paying Overtime

Turkish chef and restauranteur Nusret Gökçe, also known as Salt Bae, has been accused of purposely misclassifying some of his employees to avoid paying them overtime at his steakhouse chain and burger shop.

Five grill staffers, who said they were recruited to move from Turkey to work at Nusr-Et's U.S. locations, filed a lawsuit against Gökçe in Manhattan federal court on Tuesday.

Air Methods Flight Paramedics Get First OK of $4 Million Deal

A class of 634 Air Methods Corp. flight paramedics and nurses Tuesday convinced a federal judge in Colorado to give an initial greenlight to a $4 million deal that would end a lawsuit alleging they were denied overtime pay.

Plaintiffs sued on behalf of current and former flight paramedics and nurses in Illinois and Michigan in February 2019, saying the company failed to pay overtime for all hours, including "sleep time," worked in excess of 40 hours in a week.
