Dallas budget proposal includes funding for 250 new police officers and more overtime pay

The newly released Dallas budget proposal calls for hiring hundreds of new police officers. But the reality may be something very different.

The proposal includes money to hire more 911 operators and an additional 250 police officers, as well as increase the police department’s overtime budget.

Overtime cost Oregon employment department more than $4 million in 2020

In 2020, overtime cost Oregon's Employment Department more money than President Joe Biden is paid per year while thousands of unemployed Oregonians wait on benefits.

Records obtained by The Center Square show employees earned $430,065 in overtime pay working at the OED in 2019. That's equal to working 33,370 hours on Oregon's $12.75 minimum wage. In 2020, that number was almost 10 times more or just over $4 million in overtime pay.

Canton Contractor Must Pay $310k For Not Paying Employees OT Pay | Canton, MA Patch

CANTON, MA — A federal court has ordered three Canton-based construction companies to pay $310,000 in back wages and damages to 19 employees who were improperly denied overtime pay.

The U.S. Department of Labor had found that the three companies, Capone Bros. Inc., Capco Equipment Corp., American Earth Products, and their owner Charles L. Capone were in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Report: Lawsuit Claims UWM Cheated Execs Out Of OT

A former employee of United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM) has sued the mortgage company, claiming it cheated her and other employees out of overtime pay, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.

According to the report, the lawsuit accuses UWM of routinely forcing some hourly workers to work beyond 40 hours a week, but not paying them for the overtime. The lawsuit was filed last week in federal court in Detroit and seeks class-action status.

Feds continue investigation into former leadership at Lordsburg Police Department | KOB 4
