Half of young investors invested stimulus money, CNBC survey finds

Almost a third of investors who received government stimulus money during the pandemic invested some of it, according to a new CNBC/Momentive Invest in You survey.

Of those aged 18 to 34 years old, 49% did so —15% invested in individual stocks, 11% purchased cryptocurrency, 9% invested in mutual funds and 8% bought exchange-traded funds.

DeFuniak Springs contracts out garbage service to save money

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (Press Release) - DeFuniak Springs customers of garbage pickup services will notice a natural gas-fueled Waste Management garbage truck pulling up to their front yards beginning October 1 instead of a truck by the City of DeFuniak Springs.

"These new contracted services with Waste Management actually expands garbage pickup services to include more holidays," says City Manager Robert Thompson.  "There's only three holidays which services by Waste Management will be delayed: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

South Orange County Cities Choose Where To Spend Pandemic Bailout Money

Council members in the cities of San Clemente and Lake Forest both decided last week on how to spend their pandemic relief funds, with one city focusing on infrastructure improvements and another giving nearly two thirds of their funds back to local businesses. 

The money in question comes from the American Rescue Plan Act, the chief federal bailout fund, sending nearly $700 million to Orange County cities and letting them decide how to help their communities.
