Health district gets overtime pay | News, Sports, Jobs - The Vindicator

YOUNGSTOWN — The city’s board of control approved paying $23,873.83 in overtime to seven health district employees who normally aren’t entitled to it.

The board approved the payment Thursday. City council authorized the board at a July 28 meeting to make the payments through a temporary change in the city’s salary ordinance that make these workers eligible for the extra money.

Pennsylvania Wage And Hour Updates: (1) New Overtime Pay Regulation No Longer In Effect And (2)

There are two recent and important wage and hour developments of which Pennsylvania employers need to be aware. Unfortunately, most employers have not been planning for either of these new developments.

First, effective September 7, 2021, (2021 Act 70, dated July 9, 2021), the Pennsylvania General Assembly repealed the state regulation that had amended definitions for the executive, administrative and professional (EAP) exemptions from minimum wage and overtime obligations.

Richmond could cap overtime hours for city employees | 8News

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — After two recent audits identified excessive overtime hours worked by City of Richmond employees, City Council is set to consider a resolution to limit such hours at its Sept. 13 meeting.

The resolution was introduced by 4th District Representative Kristen Larson, who also serves as a member of the city’s audit committee.

Dozens of Wage Theft Investigations Conducted in DC Area – NBC4 Washington

Authorities in the Washington, D.C., region have investigated more than 50 possible cases of wage theft since 2017, including a range of complaints from construction employees working from the nation's capital through Richmond, Virginia. 

Raul Castro, a local labor union leader, said wage theft often targets immigrant communities, who are often less willing or able to protest or challenge employers.

Enlisting: How Pay and Benefits Work

For example, a level E-1 enlisted recruit, the level at which most people start, could expect to earn base pay of $1,650 per month in 2021. The base pay for the lowest level commissioned officer, 0-1, is almost $3,400.

Advanced enlistment allows qualified individuals to enter the service at a higher rank with higher pay. For example, achieving certification as a Boy Scout Eagle or getting a Girl Scout Gold Award could allow an applicant to enlist as a private first class in the Army.

North Highlands Jack in the Box workers strike over more than $184K in back pay

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) – Employees at a Sacramento Jack in the Box went on strike Wednesday, claiming they are owed more than $184,000 in backpay.

Workers at the location near Madison Avenue and College Oak Drive walked out during the lunch rush with strike organizers saying that for three years their manager manipulated punch time records, denied breaks for employees and forced them to work 16-hour shifts without overtime pay.
