Amazon said Saturday it will raise overtime pay for workers in its US warehouses between March 15th and May 9th, Reuters reports . Instead of the standard time-and-a-half they receive now for overtime, Amazon warehouse workers in the US will receive double their hourly rate for every overtime hour worked in a given workweek, the company said.
Amazon warehouse workers have said that the uptick in orders— as people hunker down at home to prevent the spread of coronavirus— has caused many to become concerned for their health . The Verge spoke with 24 warehouse workers and delivery drivers , who described crowded workplaces, a lack of screenings for symptoms, a shortage of cleaning supplies, and a pace that made sanitation difficult.

BOSTON (AP) — Fourteen retired Massachusetts State Police troopers who were implicated, but not criminally charged, in an overtime fraud scheme can keep their pensions, the Massachusetts State Retirement Board has ruled.

Faced with plummeting ridership and service reductions amid the coronavirus crisis, SEPTA is taking steps to mitigate "mounting operating losses" while it awaits possible federal relief funding for transportation agencies across the nation.
SEPTA has instituted a 10% pay reduction for General Manager Leslie S. Richards and its executive team, effective immediately, Richards wrote in a letter sent to employees Friday. Other "cost-cutting measures" have been or will be put into place, "including elimination of overtime, a freeze on new hires, eliminating marketing efforts where possible, eliminating nonessential employee travel," while it also weighs additional service reductions on Regional Rail and other forms of transit.

COVID-19 and Employee Furloughs: Overall Guidance from U.S.
Many employers face difficult decisions about employee furloughs related to actions needed to mitigate COVID-19. Businesses have questions about the rules governing employee furloughs, reduced hours and reduced pay, on-call telecommuting, and related subjects.
In September 2019, the U.S. Department of Labor issued Fact Sheet #70 governing furloughs. These rules provide a good place to start when deciding furlough process and procedure, of course acknowledging that the COVID-19 situation is subject to rapid change given the current legal environment, and may be subject to additional federal laws, and more stringent state and/or local laws.
