In late January, California Labor Commissioner's Office cited the owners of Genwa Korean BBQ restaurant for violating labor laws that affected 325 dishwashers, servers, and cooks at its Beverly Hills and Mid-Wilshire locations in Los Angeles. The state's fine is a $2.1 million for a numerous labor violations, including lack of rest and meal breaks, unpaid overtime, and less than minimum wage pay.

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A new report reveals the Richmond City Sheriff’s Office went nearly $3 million over budget this past year and Tuesday, the sheriff met with city auditors to explain why.
According to the audit report, overtime payments were the primary reason as to why the Richmond City Sheriff’s Office went over budget. Overtime rose by more than 300 percent from 2018-19.
Sheriff Antoinette Irving says she kept those staffing levels for security reasons, telling 8News that it’s important to keep a close eye on inmates and their behavior to reduce harm to themselves and others.

More than $800,000 in overtime racked up by Augusta Utilities - News - The Augusta Chronicle -
Augusta Utilities employees, many of whom agree to work on-call at all hours, racked up more than 30,000 hours of overtime last year.
According to a report from Utilities Director Tom Wiedmeier, five employees in water construction and maintenance and two in raw water production garnered more than 500 hours in 2019. Construction and maintenance crew supervisor Denzell Bennett had the most at 944 hours.
At time-and-a half, Bennett’s hours increased his annual pay by almost 60%, to around $62,000. The workers’ combined 30,434 hours cost ratepayers $816,149, according to the report.
