Solon voters approve $960,170 budget, OK adult-use pot store - CentralMaine.com

SOLON — Voters at Saturday’s annual town meeting approved a $960,170 budget and opted to allow an adult-use marijuana store to operate within the community.

The 60 voters in attendance approved the article after amending it to stipulate the one dispensary now operating in Solon, Limited Edition Farm, would be the only company authorized to open an adult-use marijuana store.

Voters approved another article calling for the town to place a 180-day moratorium on any marijuana-related business. During that time, a committee will be formed to draft ordinances for adult-use and for medical marijuana.

3 Ways to Stretch Your Marketing Budget

Marketing and advertising budgets vary widely across organizations. An often-cited statistic from the U.S. Small Business Association suggests spending about 8 percent of gross revenue on marketing if you make under $5 million annually and your net profit parks at 10 to 15 percent. However, a 2016 survey of 168 Chief Marketing Officers found that firms spent a median of 10 percent of their budget on marketing, but some spent as much as 40 percent.

A common beginner error is to allocate the majority of your marketing budget to paid media advertising. Rather than going all-in on top-of-funnel visibility, consider putting a portion of budget toward engaging already-aware consumers in order to maximize revenue.

The spending plan includes $213 million to give a $3,000 a year raise for every teacher. COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina officials say four more people have tested positive for the new coronavirus, bringing the state's total to six cases of COVID-19, with the first indication of it spreading within a community. The state health department said Sunday that three of the new cases are Camden residents — and two had had "close face-to-face contact" with a Camden woman whose case was announced Friday. Another Camden woman has no known connection to the other three.

West Hartford Business Buzz: March 9, 2020 - We-Ha | West Hartford News

The crocuses in my neighbor's yard are in full bloom, there's a forsythia blooming on South Main Street, and my daffodils are about 6 inches high now and budding!

The nice weather is great for our local businesses, especially in the Center and Blue Back where I have definitely noticed an uptick in people on the sidewalks. I would bet that restaurants begin to put their patio furniture back out this week if they haven't already done so.

I know there are likely many cold and raw days ahead before spring settles in for good, but let's appreciate the nice days when we have them. And, while I'm not a fan of losing an hour of sleep, this night owl loves having more light in the evenings.
