Rivian plans to expand its 3.3-million-sq-ft Normal, Ill. manufacturing plant by more than 600,000 sq ft.

Three subcontractors that worked on a project to expand electric vehicle maker Rivian's Normal, Ill., manufacturing plant have reached a settlement with the state attorney general's office and Illinois Dept. of Labor over allegations they failed to pay workers for overtime labor.

Biryani-N-Grill restaurants ordered to pay back $170K after federal overtime investigation

AUSTIN ( Austin Business Journal ) — A small Austin restaurant chain failed to pay 17 employees for overtime work and will have to fork over a six-figure sum that includes back wages.

The U.S. Department of Labor announced Dec. 16 that investigations found B & G North LLC and Sir Sai Balaji LLC, operator of Biryani-N-Grill restaurants in north and south Austin, falsified documents to make it appear they paid appropriate overtime.

Millions in overtime paid by Fort Myers Beach fire, previous complaints filed against now-chief

A WINK News uncovered concerns at the Fort Myers Beach Fire Department that date back several years, including millions of dollars paid in overtime.

Over the last 10 years, records show, the Fort Myers Beach Fire Department has paid $7 million in overtime. The current chief, Ron Martin, is an 18-year veteran who wasn’t chief during that 10-year period.

Texas CBD retailers face employee overtime lawsuit

Two Texas CBD stores are being sued by a former employee who says they illegally scammed workers of overtime pay.

The lawsuit filed Monday accuses two CBD USA Plus franchises managed by Jay Ashley and Jamie Ashley of having workers shuffle between stores in Sherman and Denton, both in North Texas, to avoid paying overtime.

Agriculture faces host of new state laws in California

Effective Jan. 1, California's minimum wage rises to $15 per hour for employers with 26 or more employees at any time in a pay period. Those employing 25 or fewer people at all times in a pay period will see the minimum wage rise to $14 per hour in 2022 and to $15 in 2023.

Employers of 26 or more people will also owe overtime pay to agricultural employees after working eight hours in a workday or 40 hours in a workweek. Those employees will be owed time and a half for work after eight and up to 12 hours in a day, and double time after 12 hours.
