IRS releases new guidance on changing accounting methods | Accounting Today

The Internal Revenue Service issued a new revenue procedure with guidance on how certain businesses can obtain automatic consent to a change in accounting methods.

The revenue procedure also details the procedures for revoking an accounting method change election made for taxable years starting on or after Jan. 5, 2021.

Poor budget estimates and the shortsighted way our national debt is calculated make it impossible for elected officials to make sound financial decisions. Members of Congress must be held accountable for their decisions.

How can we trust the federal government to come up with the true costs of new legislation when it cannot calculate the national debt properly? The $29 trillion figure that is often referenced by elected officials is not the true national debt.

ZipRecruiter names new president, CFO and chief accounting officer

Job aggregator ZipRecruiter (NYSE: ZIP), which ranks among the largest job advertising firms globally, announced a new president, CFO and chief accounting officer this week.

ZipRecruiter appointed David Travers as president, effective Wednesday. Travers has been at ZipRecruiter since December 2015 and had served as managing partner at venture capital firms Basepoint Ventures and Rustic Canyon Ventures prior to joining the company.

Accounting, analytics options available to Penn State DuBois business students | Penn State

DuBOIS, Pa. — Students currently enrolled, or those considering enrollment, in the bachelor of science in business major at Penn State DuBois now have options available to them in two of the most in-demand fields for business professionals.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a 28% growth in data science fields is projected to take place by 2026. Also, according to the bureau, nearly 2 million people in the United States were employed as accountants or auditors in 2020. That number is expected to grow by 7% by the year 2030.
