The biggest change to the tax code in three decades, the law slashed taxes for big companies, part of an effort to coax them to invest more in the United States and to discourage them from stashing profits in overseas tax havens.

New Georgia laws go into effect Jan. 1

ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) - As the clock strikes midnight for a new year, so do new Georgia laws that go into effect.

This bill will revise the criteria that the Department of Driver Services can authorize certain licensed driver training schools to administer the on-the-road driving skills test.

SB 65
This bill relates to the alternative ad valorem tax on motor vehicles. This bill states that the transfer of a title between legal entities owned by the same person does not constitute a taxable event.

Final Opportunity Zone Regulations Provide Some Much-Needed Clarity - Tax - United States

Section 1400Z-2, added by Public Law 115-97 (the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act), provides tax incentives for investors to make equity investments in qualified opportunity funds (QOFs) that will in turn invest in qualified opportunity zone business property (QOZ Business Property), either directly or indirectly through qualified opportunity zone businesses (QOZ Businesses) operating in qualified opportunity zones (QOZs).�

On December 19, the Department of the Treasury (Treasury) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released the final regulations governing the tax benefits from investing in qualified opportunity zones (QOZs). The package is 544 pages and finalizes two different sets of proposed regulations�one issued on October 29, 2018 (October 2018 proposed regulations) and the other issued on May 1, 2019 (May 2019 proposed regulations).

Google will finally stop using controversial Irish and Dutch tax loopholes - The Verge

The era of Google using a pair of controversial loopholes to save billions of dollars in taxes on overseas ad revenue is coming to a close, according to a new report from Reuters . In 2020, the company will no longer take advantage of the so-called "Double Irish" and "Dutch sandwich" loopholes, which allowed it and countless other corporations to shift money from Ireland to the Netherlands and Bermuda, sheltering billions from taxes in the process.
