Chuy's to pay more than $100,000 in back wages for violating minimum wage, overtime requirements
TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - A news release from the U.S. Department of Labor says an investigation into Chuy's Mesquite Broiler by the Wage and Hour Division determined the restaurant must pay $114,964 in back wages and damages to 55 employees and $20,372 in civil penalties for violating minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
WHD investigators found the employer failed to pay some employees for all the time that they worked. The employer violated FLSA provisions when the wages they paid failed to meet the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour for all the hours they worked. Overtime violations resulted from the employer's practice of paying employees for only their first 40 hours each workweek by payroll check, paying for any overtime hours either in cash, or in a separate check, at straight-time rates.

Colorado labor department finalizes new wage rules | Kiowa County Press - Eads, Colorado, News
The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment has finalized new rules governing overtime and minimum payment requirements for the state's workers who are eligible for overtime pay.
According to the department, the 10-month long comment period involved the opinions of more than 1,000 workers and employers. Many testified to the fact that the previous wage order to reform the wage standards in the state was unclear in defining which workers are covered and what the required criteria was to make an employee exempt from the various wage order protections.
Gov. Tom Wolf makes another push to raise minimum wage in Pennsylvania
Wolf joined lawmakers and workers Tuesday to renew the call for the legislature to increase the minimum wage to $12 an hour.
Under the governor's proposal, that hike would go in effect on July 1, 2020, with annual 50 cent increases until reaching $15 an hour in 2026.

Clarity's cost: The $5M comma | Opinion | morganton.com
In 2014, you see, drivers for a dairy company in Portland, Maine sued their employer for overtime pay because a state law pertaining to overtime-pay exemptions failed to include the Oxford comma.
* * *
It's the final comma in a list of things, Grammarly explains. In Grammarly's example, the Oxford comma appears after the word "eraser": "Please bring me a pencil, eraser, and notebook."
Few use the Oxford comma anymore. Most newspapers, for instance, edit articles according to the Associated Press Stylebook, which does NOT use the Oxford comma.
