Virginia Tax Return Preparer Sentenced to Just Over 12 Months for Evading Her Own Taxes | OPA |

A Richmond, Virginia, tax return preparer was sentenced yesterday to one year and a day in prison for evading her own taxes.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Willette J. Holland owned Tax Professionals, a return preparation firm located in Richmond, Virginia. In August 2014, the IRS contacted Holland because she had not filed personal tax returns for the years 2010 through 2013.

Tax Preparer Sentenced to a Year for Not Paying Her Own Taxes

A Virginia woman was sentenced Thursday to one year and a day in prison for failing to pay her taxes. Willette J. Holland, owner of Tax Professionals, came under investigation starting in August 2014 regarding her taxes.

The IRS reached out to Holland, a tax preparer because she didn't file a personal tax return from 2010 to 2013. She filed a false return from the following years which underrepresented her projected income and business receipts.

Pontiac Mayor Waterman delinquent on two years of property taxes – The Oakland Press

Deirdre Waterman, the mayor of Pontiac running as a write-in candidate because she did not pay filing fees and fines on time, owes thousands in property taxes.

According to Oakland County tax records through July 15, Waterman owes approximately $2,550 in delinquent property taxes from 2019 and 2020.

Property Taxes in San Diego Reach $7.2 Billion After 99% Paid on Record Parcels - Times of San

Nearly 100% of the county's overall property tax charges were paid, resulting in $7.2 billion in revenue.

Treasurer-Tax Collector Dan McAllister issued a statement saying the county posted a 99.02% figure "under the cloud of the pandemic."

"San Diego County is now home to a record 1,001,029 parcels," McAllister said. "For this last deadline, we surpassed the percentage of taxes paid over what was paid in 2020. We've seen that taxpayers are stepping up and paying what they owe.

Proposed city budget could raise Bismarck's property taxes

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Bismarck's budget committee presented the 2022 preliminary budget to city commissioners Tuesday. The proposal is set to increase property taxes by nearly four million dollars.

The proposal prioritized sustaining and maintaining existing levels of city services for citizens, public safety and cybersecurity. Additionally, officials plan to use CARES Act, Municipal Infrastructure and American Rescue Plan funding when possible.
