Feds find Warrington roofers put minors in danger, failed to pay overtime

A Warrington contracting company has been ordered to pay $179,000 in back wages, damages and penalties for employing minors illegally and failing to pay overtime, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

An investigation found Pro Com Roofing & Construction Services Corp. employed five 15- to 17-years-olds to perform hazardous duties in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act and child labor laws, according to a department press release.

Councillors question high overtime payouts, but costs drop in 2020 | Calgary Herald

Overtime payments to City of Calgary employees were down in 2020 despite the pandemic, but some council members are calling for more transparency about the annual costs.

City chief financial officer Carla Male wrote that overtime payments were down 11 per cent in 2020 compared to 2019, and there were also fewer employees getting those payments.

New Capitol Police chief says officers testifying next week "need to be heard" -
