Overtime Rule Update Spurs Industry Groups to Push DOL for Input

5 key things to know about CT's spending on state employee pay

Connecticut's spending on state employee pay has grown in recent years – reaching a record high of $4.9 billion each of the past two years – even as the number of state workers dipped, according to an analysis of data from the state Comptroller's office.

FLSA - Eleventh Circuit Finds that Additional Compensation Is Allowed Under the Fluctuating

A case recently decided before the Eleventh Circuit Court has clarified that overtime compensation paid to employees according to the fluctuating workweek method provided under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) payment of other variable pay factors including shift differentials and bonuses

The plaintiff, in this case, worked in Florida as a technician for the employer and was classified as a salaried non-exempt employee. The employee signed a document during the hiring process agreeing that overtime payment would be calculated according to the fluctuating workweek method.

Home Health Company Sued by Department of Labor over Misclassification - Health

Lady of Fatima Health Services provides in home health services and nursing. The complaint accuses the defendant of misclassifying workers as independent contractors and failing to pay them overtime rates for work over 40 hours.

The complaint also alleges that when workers worked for more than one client, the defendants did not combine those hours to confirm that they had worked over 40 hours and instead treated each set of hours independently.
