One economist's argument for heat safety regulations | KBIA

As global temperatures rise, the risk of heat injury is acute for many people while they're on the job. Proposed rules to protect workers are often seen as too costly, while a new study puts that to the test.

ADRIAN MA, BYLINE: In the mid-2000s, California was one of the first states to pass rules aimed at protecting outdoor workers on hot days. And now they're looking to do the same thing for indoor workers.

Cooling Regulations Could Reheat KWEB | ETF Trends

China's regulatory regime, which started in earnest last year and focused largely on consumer internet companies, was an obvious drag on Chinese growth stocks and the related exchange traded funds, and plenty of that negative sentiment carried over into 2022.

In what could ultimately prove to be good news for ETFs such as the KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF (KWEB) , some market observers believe that Beijing's regulatory crackdown is nearing its end, and that could pave the way for rebounds by some previously high-flying Chinese growth stocks.

Brexiteers, No One Wants Your Bonfire of Regulations - The Washington Post

But it's far from what the mainstream in finance and business wants.

They are right to be concerned: What hardcore Brexiteers want done in months can only responsibly be tackled over years.

Britain's Trades Union Congress joined The Institute of Directors and several other workplace, environment and justice interest groups late last week to demand the government scrap its wide-ranging bill that aims to revoke or rewrite all EU law by the end of 2023.

Lubbock developers skirting regulations with technicality

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Some developers are accused of skirting regulations to lower their costs leaving some Lubbock county residents in a tough position soon after purchasing a new home. County commissioner Terence Kovar says it's due to a technicality.

"They just go in and bam you know stake it off," Kovar said. "They'll have a surveyor come out and stake off 10.1 acres or however many acres it is and they just go through and do it."

City Building Owners Anticipating New 2024 Environmental Regulations

Local Law 97, passed by the City Council in 2019, puts carbon caps on all buildings bigger than 25,000 square feet — the city's largest source of greenhouse gas emissions — including some grocery stores, distribution centers, offices and several kinds of apartment buildings.

The Department of Buildings' draft rules for exactly how it works were only released in October and won't be finalized until the end of the year. In the meantime, many owners are already trying to prepare for the changes.
