Liquor license at Livonia Athletic District denied over back taxes

A backlog of unpaid taxes has apparently derailed plans to bring alcohol to the former YMCA building in Livonia.

The original plan calls for the allowance of the sale of alcohol in several portions of the building. Such a license will help to attract other tenants the company hopes to bring to the building, including a golf simulator.

Mega Millions jackpot is $830 million. If it's won, here's tax bill

Of course, it's not what the winner would actually end up with. Whether the windfall is taken as an annuity of 30 payments over 29 years or as an immediate, reduced cash lump sum, taxes end up taking a big bite out of any winnings.
