With split vote, county board hires new company to do budget and audit | Latest News |

YORK – With a split vote of 3-2, the York County Commissioners voted in favor of hiring Regier Carr and Monroe, LLP, CPAs, to assist with the budget process and do the audit for a three-year cycle.

The county had been doing business with Contryman Associates, as a representative of that company had been assisting with the budget process and doing the county audit – for a number of years.

When Contryman asked for the contract to end because that representative moved on to another company – Regier Carr and Monroe – the commissioners had to determine what direction they wanted to go in the future and what company/companies to hire.

Sorrell's S4 Capital growing ahead of budget early in 2021 | Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) - Martin Sorrell's digital ad group S4 Capital said its momentum had continued into 2021, with like-for-like January gross profit well ahead of budget, after it reported a 19.4% rise in like-for-like gross profit in 2020.

Sorrell said the company's purely digital model based on using first party data to create, produce and distribute digital advertising content was resonating with clients.

"We're in a digital sweet spot," he said in an interview on Thursday. "You saw the pandemic drive digital transformation, and now you're going to see GDP growth grow that even further."

Senate Unanimously Approves $51 Billion Budget Plan – Maryland Matters

Maryland’s Senate gave unanimous approval Thursday to a nearly $51 billion budget plan, and final negotiations with House lawmakers could begin as early as Friday.

The budget has grown steadily during the legislative session thanks to federal stimulus funding and higher-than-anticipated revenue estimates.

Sen. George C. Edwards (R-Garrett), a member of the Budget and Taxation Committee, said he was worried throughout the legislative session about additional funding considerations and supplemental budgets continually flowing into the committee.

Dems Proposed State Budget 'Tied' to Capital Gains Income Tax

Senate GOP leaders Thursday praised some of the 2021-2023 biennial operations budget for Washington state, saying part of it mirrors their proposals as well.

Senate Ways and Means Committee GOP Senator Lynda Wilson of Vancouver said this about the Democratic proposal:

If the bill passes , it would most likely face a legal challenge, or a public referendum. By the time it actually went into effect, it would only provide revenue for the last quarter of the 2021-2023 operating budget, said Wilson.

U.S. should deny market access to Norwegian budget airline - lawmaker | Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -The chairman of the U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Wednesday urged the Biden administration to deny a permit for a new low-cost Norwegian carrier to enter the domestic market.

Representative Peter DeFazio, in a statement released ahead of a hearing Thursday, urged Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to deny Norse Atlantic permission to enter the U.S. market.

Last week, Reuters reported the budget airline planned to fly from U.S. destinations such as New York, Los Angeles and Miami to European cities including London, Paris and Oslo, with a goal of launching its first flight in December this year.
