More than 200 people flooded the Illinois State Capitol Tuesday afternoon to demand an end to the use of money bail, the payment required for a person to be released from jail while awaiting a court hearing.
State and local governments across the country have begun to eliminate the use of money bail in recent years, which opponents say is a form of discrimination against low-income people of color.
Of the more than 2 million people incarcerated in the U.S. on any given day, more than half a million have not been convicted of a crime. Many simply can't pay bail.

FRONT ROYAL – Over two years after the town received a $700,000 Community Development Block Grant, officials are frustrated at the lack of progress.

Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra is a lot of phone for a lot of money – TechCrunch
Let's talk about money. More specifically, let's talk about how much things cost. A few years back, the price of flagship smartphones leapt above the $1,000 threshold, owing largely to the cost of screen technology. It's a tough calculus, but that's the price of innovation.
The rising cost of smartphones is largely regarded as a major contributing factor to flagging smartphone sales. Phones have gotten better and last longer, and with four-digit prices, users are far less compelled to upgrade every two years or so.
