New UK finance minister warns some taxes will rise in sign of new U-turn

In an attempt to appease financial markets that have been in turmoil for three weeks, Truss fired Kwasi Kwarteng as her chancellor of the exchequer on Friday and scrapped parts of their controversial economic package.

In a hurried news conference shortly after dismissing Kwarteng, Truss said the corporation tax rate would increase, abandoning her plan to keep it at current levels, and government spending would rise by less than previously planned.

Wyoming lawmakers seek to tackle soaring property taxes | Washington Examiner

Waco drops tax suit against council member Andrea Barefield after back taxes paid

The city of Waco dropped its tax lawsuit against City Council Member Andrea Jackson Barefield last week after the payment of more than $95,000 in taxes and penalties that had added up since 2014 on her home.

Barefield bought the share of her family member Tammie Jackson Perry in the duplex on Sept. 14, for about $30,000, a special warranty deed filed with the McLennan County Clerk's Office shows.
