Water woes met with conservation regulations | News Channel 3-12

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.-The State Water Resources Board voted unanimously this week to ban watering lawns that serve no essential purpose. The board calls it nonfunctional turf. The ban impacts commercial, industrial and institutional sectors.

The board is also ordering local water agencies to implement water use restrictions by limiting water use in all kinds of ways such as limiting lawn watering to certain days and lowering sprinkler volumes.

City looks to ease street vending regulations

Mayor Eric Adams made public several proposals to help reform and modernize street vending regulations for New Yorkers on Wednesday.

The steps being made are designed to cut red tape for street vendors and make sure they are safe for their customers.

A report released to the City Council contained the recommendations, which have been made by the Street Vendor Advisory Board (SVAB). The board consists of stakeholders representing city agencies, street vendors, retail food stores, property owners, small businesses and community organizations.

Montana FWP fishing regulations to see more frequent review - Missoula Current

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is changing its process to review and publish fishing regulations every two years instead of every four. Montana Trout Unlimited is backing the shift so that fewer regulations are changed after the fact.

FWP is hosting statewide meetings this month to let Montanans know of yet another change to the way it does business. Starting this year, the frequency of fishing regulation changes will increase to every other year, a process similar to that of hunting regulations.

Harris County attorney introduces regulations for reselling catalytic converters

The new regulations set specific guidelines for anyone purchasing or receiving a catalytic converter, including ensuring the person selling the item has a verifiable receipt from a repair facility.

It will also make it illegal for any person or entity other than a metal recycler to possess a used catalytic converter that was cut from a vehicle instead of unbolted unless proper documentation can be provided.

Nueces County commissioners pass stricter regulations on game rooms

The vote is the result of months of collaboration between law enforcement, the county attorney's office and the Commissioners Court, which considered the suggestions of bingo hall operators, game room owners and residents in multiple meetings.

Baldwin was among a few supporters of game room regulations who attended the Wednesday meeting and the majority of the previous court meetings on the subject. The few amendments her group suggested to the Commissioners Court will go before the county attorney for inclusion.
