San Diego may lower cannabis taxes on production businesses to encourage more to open - The San

A proposal to sharply reduce San Diego's cannabis tax rate for a set of targeted businesses got a key endorsement Wednesday from a City Council committee.

The council's economic development committee unanimously approved shrinking the tax rate from 8 percent to 2 percent for indoor pot farms and factories that make cannabis edibles.

Chris Tucker owes IRS $9 million in taxes, lawsuit claims

In a complaint filed to Nevada federal court Monday and obtained by USA TODAY, attorneys say the 50-year-old actor owes federal taxes, tax penalties and interest from 2002, 2006, 2008 and 2010 that amount to $9.6 million.

"Despite notice and demand for payment of the assessments set forth above, Mr. Tucker has neglected, refused, or failed to fully pay the assessments against him," the 16-page lawsuit states.

Withholding Taxes Excluded From Digital Levy Ban: OECD Tax Head

A rollback of digital services taxes included in a global tax deal last month will be limited in scope, according to a senior Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development official.

The Oct. 8 deal, which calls for a moratorium on new digital taxes and other similar measures, has raised concerns that the scope of the agreement would stretch to other levies, such as withholding taxes.
